It took me months of digging, but I finally found the perfect CRM tool: Contactually.
My Social CRM of choice
There are so many factors that went into my decision to use Contactually that I can’t possibly write about all of it in a single blog post. As a small business owner, I have so many things to juggle. I have to not only worry about running my business, but also managing my existing contacts and updating my contacts as I meet new vendors, clients, and prospects.
Contactually: Power wrapped in a Beautiful UI
One of the most important factors in choosing my CRM tool was user interface. I don’t just want something that is pretty to look at. I need to be able to have something that functions well and is easy to navigate; I need something that is intuitive and works with my workflow, not against it.
Social CRM Dashboard
The dashboard is easy to use and the program is very quick. I’m not distracted by a bunch of icons that I don’t understand and I don’t have to spend time fiddling with a bunch of settings when I don’t need them.
One of the most important features for me was the integration of Social Media with my contacts. I like to be able to see faces of who I am about to contact, and I like to be able to see their recent twitter feed so I have an ice breaker for the conversation.
I also really like how my email, contacts, calendar, and other features are always on the screen right by each other so that I can readily go between them as I need.
Where Contactually falls short
As much as I love the software, there are a few very obvious areas where it needs improvement. Here is my list of gripes and grievances. Hopefully the devs will take notice.
Bucket & Contact Navigation
- I wish the software would add the ability to quickly navigate through contacts without have to go BACK to the main contact page. Simple next/previous arrows would do the trick.
- If I do go back, I should NOT have to lose my search. Going back from a contact to the main contacts view will reset your search / filter parameters, forcing you to start over. It’s a huge waste of time.
Contact View Customization
- Why can’t I customize what columns are visible in my Contacts view? And why can’t I resize them?
- Also, I should be able to add TAGS to a contact as easily as I add a bucket (right from the main contact view)
The pricing is a bit steep at $40/m/user. It’s not competitive at all. Especially not when you have a team of 5 people. The fee is overly expensive.
That’s really it for now. I have other gripes, but those are my biggest.
Conclusion: Contactually is still the best SMB CRM on the market
Even with those items that absolutely drive me nuts, Contactually is a rock solid CRM that is very easy to learn, very easy to use, and is exactly what I have been looking for. Contactually does not overwhelm you with thousands of complex features that you will never use. The price tag is a bit steep at $40/m/user, but unfortunately it’s not something that I can live without.
